For the rest of 2009, Sustainable Future will conduct two related projects.
The first project will be a detailed examination of all the challenges and potential problems facing human civilization. Issues such as peak oil, climate change, the freshwater crisis, the challenge of feeding eight billion people, the loss of biodiversity, the potential for a worldwide pandemic, and even cosmic threats will be accessed as to their likelihood and immediacy, as well as their potential impacts and severity. If we are to plan a sustainable future, we must first be aware of what the threats to our civilization actually are.
This project will start on Monday, Septemeber 7 and will consist of one or two major posts a week.
Once the threats to human civilization have been exposed, the second project will be a detailed response to these challenges. I will lay out in considerable detail exactly how I think we can overcome all challenges and create a sustainable future for human civilization. This project will also consist of one or two posts a week and will run through the end of the year, and perhaps even a bit into 2010.
Once completed, these two projects - background and plan for survival - will form a detailed survival guide for human civilization.
These two projects will be the only posts made to Sustainable Future during this time. However, I will continue to post to my other blogs on a regular basis. The Modern Victory Movement will be the posting point for my permaculture information (such as the most recent post on composting and improving soils) and my regular Resource Miser series.
